Police are searching for a driver who struck a man just after 10 p.m. Sunday night.

The victim, who appears to be in his 30s, was crossing the street on Union Turnpike, most likely heading to the nearby Stop & Shop grocery store.

A security guard working in the area saw the hit-and-run happen. He told the Daily News that the driver of the car – a burgundy Jeep – never even slowed down before mowing down the victim.

“He hit him so hard his body went flying and he hit the big metal Dumpsters on the corner of the street,” the guard said.

The victim is currently in critical condition at Jamaica Medical Center.
