Veronica “Vicky Morales” Casella was recently appointed by Borough President Melinda Katz to serve as the director of community boards. She will also serve as the director of parks and recreation and director of facilities.

“It is a tremendous honor to be selected by Borough President Katz to help fulfill her vision in making Queens the best borough of families and for families to live, work and play,” Casella said in a statement.

For the last five years, Casella served as the Chief of Staff and District Director to Councilmember Karen Koslowitz. Koslowitz represents the 29th District on the New York City Council – including Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens and part of Richmond Hill. Casella also worked with Katz for over two decades.

“There is no one who brings a stronger combination of experience, efficacy and a demonstrated commitment to public service,” Katz said. “Vicky has proven her capacity to handle such a brad portfolio of three significant departments of my administration.”
