Forest Hills resident and director Flavio Alves will have his film “Tom in America” featured in the upcoming Queens World Film Festival. The 16-minute short narrative will screen on Wednesday, March 16 at 8 p.m. at P.S. 69 in Jackson Heights.

After being married for 50 years, main characters Michael and Betty believe their life together is rather lie-free. However, a Tom of Finland doll brings up Michael’s deepest secrets and the couple’s world is turned upside down. The film follows whether or not their love can prevail.

Alves is a Brazilian writer, film director and producer. He was granted political asylum in 1998 and worked briefly for both Hillary Clinton and Anthony Weiner.
