Kew Forest Junior Varsity Basketball team wins PSAA title

The Kew Forest JV Jaguars defeated The Avenues School by a score of 82-50 in the PSAA Championship game this Thursday.

To get to the championship game, the Jaguars defeated LWA in the Eastern Conference finals 70-68, and came back the next evening to defeat Avenues.

“I have never coached a team that has so much talent, commitment, sportsmanship, self-control and stamina on and off the basketball court. After we won the title 82-50 vs. Avenue’s I knew right then and there this has been the best team I have ever coached in 27 years,” said KF Coach Della Marco.

Alex Pena was named MVP of the championship game having a double-double (27 points – 11 steals – 4 assists), Malachi Phillips scored 22 points – 6 assists, Jonathan Daniels double – double 14 points – 12 rebounds – 6 steals – 5 assists and  Lambert Shell 7 points – 5 rebounds.

 

This is the first ever JV Boys Title won by Kew Forest in the PSAA. With an overall record 18 – 3, and PSAA record 13-1, the Kew Forest program, led by John Della Marco, is surely headed in the right direction.
