Forest Hills Asian Association Diwali FestivalPlease join the Forest Hills Asian Association (FHAA) in collaboration with the Queens Library New Americans Program for the FHAA 1st annual Diwali Festival of Lights celebration on Saturday, November 3, from 2 pm-4:30 pm at the Queens Library 108-19 71st Avenue.

Come to celebrate and learn more about Diwali, our community marketing partner  Lend-A-Hand India, and the Queens Library New Americans Program. All are welcome. The event is free and open to the public.

The guest speaker will be Hersh K. Parekh, Esq., the Director of Downstate Regional Affairs at Governor Cuomo’s Office.

There will also be a special performance by Gaurav Venkateswar. Raised in Chicago and based out of New York, Venkateswar finds music inspiration from his South Asian heritage as well as musical genres around the world. As a child, he studied Indian classical music from Dr. Tapan Bhattacharyya while also learning western classical piano.

As an adult, Venkateswar continued his Indian vocal training with the renowned artist Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty, and has also studied music composition, jazz, and electro-acoustic music. Gaurav is also a founding member of Chai Town, a collegiate Indian-American a cappella group from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that specializes in mixing South Asian and Western Music.
