Queens Bully takes the Forest Hills Foodies on a trip down South

Hits: 23322

Our @thisisforesthills Foodies Team ventured to Queens Bully recently, and Melvin Boots Johnson a.k.a Chef Boots took us on a trip down south!

Well, not really. But his barbecued food at Queens Bully definitely gave us all the southern feels.

First, he cheffed up a half rack of dry rubbed ribs with a side of his personal brand-named barbecue sauce. His brand is called “Damn Bro” because it will literally make you say, “Daaaaammmmmnnnnn bro.”

Next, we all tried out his creamy cheddar mac and cheese with breadcrumbs. With just one small bite it felt like we were diving into an erupting volcano of cheese. You can also add on brisket, pork, shrimp, or bacon.

Then, our team dove in and literally tore up the Quad– a tower of four certified angus beef patties oozing with cheese. We don’t know how, but we were somehow able to tackle the monstrosity of a burger. Believe it or not, you can add more patties if you think you’re up to the challenge.

Don’t worry, Chef Boots didn’t forget the essentials! We each had a piece of the in-house made smoked bacon that takes FOUR days to make! And it tasted nothing less than these three things: Tender, Love, and Care.

There was no way we were going to have southern food without having the dynamic duo of the south: chicken and waffles. But Chef Boots’ recipe isn’t like the rest. Instead of the classic fried chicken, he smokes his! It’s only right since he is a barbecuer. And like he says, “Barbecue is not a sauce… It’s a technique.”

The zucchini bread waffles are topped with a flavorful maple cayenne butter that makes it just the right amount of sweet.

We ended our food-venture with fresh baked apple crisp. A scoop of vanilla ice cream was plopped right on top of the warm dessert and melted perfectly within.

Queens Bully is located at 113-30 Queens Blvd. and has many specials all week long! Join them for taco Tuesdays, brunch, happy hour, trivia nights, or come in next month as they celebrate their one-year anniversary.
